Full Story of
The Patient Portal project was conceptualized as a SaaS (Software-as-a-Service) solution to revolutionize how healthcare providers and patients interact digitally. In a healthcare landscape often marked by disjointed systems, this application aims to deliver a centralized, scalable platform that simplifies patient engagement and streamlines healthcare workflows for providers.
Designed with flexibility and efficiency in mind, the Patient Portal serves as a multi-functional tool enabling patients to access medical records, book appointments, track prescriptions, and securely communicate with healthcare providers. For organizations, the SaaS model ensures seamless integration with existing systems, reduced infrastructure costs, and continuous updates to meet evolving user needs.
This project emphasized creating an intuitive, responsive design accessible across devices, ensuring a consistent and user-friendly experience for patients while driving operational efficiency for healthcare providers.

I prioritized a user-first approach, with every decision driven by user needs.

Conducting User Research
The journey of
User research for the Patient Portal SaaS Application was conducted to deeply understand the needs and pain points of both patients and healthcare providers. The research aimed to uncover critical insights to guide the design of a platform that is intuitive, accessible, and efficient for all users.

For patients, the focus was on identifying barriers to accessing healthcare information, such as navigating complex systems, managing appointments, and maintaining clear communication with providers. Research methods included user interviews, surveys, and usability testing to capture their expectations for a seamless healthcare experience.

For healthcare providers, the research explored challenges in integrating patient-facing tools with existing workflows and ensuring compliance with data security regulations. Feedback from providers helped shape features like secure messaging, role-based access, and real-time updates.

The insights gathered informed key design decisions, ensuring the Patient Portal addressed the unique needs of its diverse user base while delivering a scalable, efficient SaaS solution.

Wireframes
Sketching the Future
Wireframing was a crucial step in visualizing the redesigned Farnell experience. Collaborating closely with product owners, stakeholders, and fellow designers, we transformed research insights into structured layouts that prioritized user needs. These wireframes served as the blueprint for seamless navigation, optimized workflows, and intuitive interactions, ensuring every element was aligned with the project’s goals.

Crafting a Scalable Design System
Building the Blueprint
I created a comprehensive design system for Legato Health Technologies, used across all their products, including the patient app and the ranking portal. While I wasn't able to present the entire system in my portfolio, I’ve showcased a few key elements here. The system included standardized components, color palettes, typography, and iconography, ensuring a consistent and seamless user experience across all platforms. This approach streamlined collaboration, reduced development time, and provided a scalable foundation for future updates.
